Emeritus and Co-founder of Clean Production Action, Clean Production Action

Beverley has researched and promoted clean production strategies internationally since 1986 and co-founded Clean Production Action as a resource to advance a non-toxic economy. Previously she was the first Clean Production liaison and technical expert for Greenpeace International on chemical and waste issues and during this time researched and disseminated the growing field of clean technology solutions to the global toxics campaigns. Her work on alternatives to PVC plastics, and hazardous waste incineration helped drive momentum for safer substitution practices in company practices. As the NGO representative in the first United Nations Environment Programme for Cleaner Production, she promoted the value of public participation in industrial policies. Her work on clean production systems extended to agriculture in 2000 when she worked with the US farming community to document the increased chemical risks from GMO crops.

She is the author of the Safer Solutions policy paper (2022) for the Louisville Charter – a roadmap to fundamentally transform the chemical industry.

Bev received her degree in Geography from Leicester University, UK and is an annual lecturer at Lund University in Sweden on chemicals policy and corporate practices. She is a previous Director of Greenpeace International and the Story of Stuff in the US.  Having officially retired from CPA in 2024, Bev is still writing and communicating the opportunities for a non-toxic, socially just and renewable energy future.  She lives in Toronto, Canada.
