SusanWilburn, BSc Nursing, MPH,is the International SustainabilityDirector, Health Care Without Harm. An occupational & environmental health specialist (fields of study: nursing, public health, epidemiology), Susan leads HCWH’s work in collaboration with the UNDP and WHO on Sustainable Procurement, health care waste management and mercury elimination. Prior to joining Health Care Without Harmin 2014,she worked at the Department of Public Health, Environmental and Social Determinants of Healthat World Health Organization headquarters in Geneva for tenyears, where she coordinated the "greening hospitals" initiative, as well as the Protecting Health Workers -PreventingNeedlestick Injuries project and led the development of the WHO-ILO global framework for national occupational health programs for health workers.Ms. Wilburn, the health sector civil society representative to the Bureau of the International Conference on Chemicals Management, is the author of multiple articles and chapters on protecting health care workers from occupational hazards, communities from the environmental health impact of health care activities. She is a co-author of the World Bank Climate Smart Healthcare: Low-Carbon and Resilience Strategies for the Health Sectorand WHO Framework for Climate-Resilient and environmentally sustainable health care facilities –An Assessment Tool.
