International Coordinator, International Pollutants Elimination Network

Björn Beeler has served as the International Coordinator for the International Pollutants Elimination Network (IPEN) since 2003. He has over 20 years of experience in UN global environmental policy development and international aid.

IPEN is global network comprised of more than 600 public-interest organizations in 127 countries, advancing it’s mission of a toxics-free future for all. IPEN’s theory of change is a local to global to local approach, which includes globalizing local voices and priorities into global policies arenas to elevate the priorities of public interest organization’s in low to middle income countries. In addition, IPEN aims to leverage global policies and resources to localize global policies to change reality on-the-ground.  IPEN Participating Organizations (members) work collectively to eliminate toxics substances and waste that threaten human health and the environment, generating scientific data, engaging media and educating policy-makers.

Björn is also the IPEN General Manager, overseeing IPEN’s global offices in the US and in Sweden, as well as IPEN’s 8 Regional Offices in Africa, Asia, Central/Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
