Technical Director, Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC)
Scott Echols is an expert in sustainable materials and processes for the apparel and footwear industries. He has B.S and M.S. Degrees in chemistry and is working towards an MS degree in Textile Chemistry. He has 29 years of experience in environmental chemistry and over 16 years of experience in textile and footwear product chemistry issues. He is currently an independent consultant and is the Technical Director for the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals Programme (ZDHC). Previously, he was part of the Nike Materials Science Innovation group and was the Environmental Manager for C&A Europe. Scott currently serves on the steering committee for the Outdoor Industry Association Chemicals Management Working Group (OIA CMWG) and is on the North Carolina State Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science (TECS) Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). He is based in Portland, Oregon, USA.
