About Us
Co-Chairs
Mark Buczek is currently serving as the Co-Chair of BizNGO. He has extensive experience in advancing the use of safer flame retardants. Mark has served on a steering committee on alternative flame retardants for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Design for the Environment Program and on the expert panel for Center for Disease Control’s National Conversation on Chemical Exposures. His previous positions include over 20 years of experience as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Akzo Nobel and Vice President of Business Development and Global Business Manager for two Akzo Nobel businesses. Mark has an M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from DePaul University.
Dr. Mark Rossi founded BizNGO in 2006 to bring thought leaders together to define best business practices in selecting safer alternatives to toxic chemicals and unsustainable materials. The BizNGO community is now over 400 individuals. Mark played a leadership role in the development of BizNGO's visionary Principles for Safer Chemicals Policy and Principles for Sustainable Plastics. He is a leader in the alternatives assessment field, starting with co-authoring the GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals and the Lowell Center Framework for Alternatives Assessment. Mark is a member of the Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Act Advisory Committee and a Research Fellow at the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production. His Ph.D. is in Environmental Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
